Calgary & Montreal Wedding Photographer: How to Take Sparklers Photos!

When Abaigeal Skjenna (now Abaigeal Luoma :D) contacted me few months ago that her number 1 wish for her wedding photography was to have some sparklers photos (she sent me few examples on Pinterest), at first I was unsure, because I had never done it! So I told her I would not accept the commission before I tested it and was sure I could do it. I never want to promise something to anyone that I am not sure I can deliver.

Few days later, after purchasing few sparklers (and learning that the best sparklers were the ones that would burn for 3-4 minutes; the 21-inch ones are fine, but the trail is much finer and I also used these), I practiced with Angela's help. Post can be read here.

On Abaigeal's wedding reception day, Abaigeal's brother brought an 'industrial-grade' torch that beat my windproof lighter any day! Despite the wind that night, it was no problem lighting up all those sparklers. Yay! Abaigeal's brother and friend were super helpful; her brother helped lighting up the sparklers, and her friend helped by holding an Iphone (set to give off light towards the couple) from a 45 degrees angle, just slightly above the head (as the venue was pitch black with little light coming from the barn).

Here are some of the photos from the night:
